Sale Of Oregon Tiller Shows Power Of Video Marketing
There can be no doubt that we all love watching video. American’s like pictures but they LOVE video and one small Oregon town and their real estate agent recently scored a home run by making an in-depth video production of the town.
Tiller, Oregon is located in Douglas County on the South Umpqua River and is all but vacant after the collapse of the Timber industry. One family slowly acquired the bulk of the town and listed it for sale. Not much happened with the marketing until the little town and the broker produced a nice Video storybook of Tiller using drone flyovers and cool video and still frame snippets. Add to that the voice of a man that sounds like the infamous Sam Elliott and they hit a home run.
The video was just one way the agent told the story of the little town that was for sale. From there the agent used some search engine marketing and the BBC ran a special on the unique offering. Calls came in from all over the world and now they have a buyer under contract. What will someone do with an entire town sort of in the middle of no where? Well anything they want really. And it only cost them about $4 Million dollars. But millions more in development costs will follow as the new buyers, who are from Ashland (OR), make plans for something good.
This is a great story if the sale closes. If it doesn’t close it still shows how video plays a big part in marketing.
